I've seen many people catch air in cars where drivers crush vertebrae on the landing. Shock technology is getting pretty good so I think this will work.
They should put shocks, and maybe springs under their seats. I'm sure you could come up with a combo that would stay solid during somewhat aggressive driving but absorb the shock on a big impact. I've seen guys back the 80s-90s catch big air to flat and break vertebrae. Recently I saw Ken Block do it. He has a lot of funding for his stunts and he's driving really expensive cars when he jumps so a shock seat would be easy to pay for. They should look into this, then they could jump even farther and that would be awesome.
Here's the recent Ken Block vid.
